Aidilfitri mulia telah pun tiba,
Hati gundah rindukan sanak- saudara,
Teratak Ayah Bonda destinasi utama,
Namun keselamatan kediaman jangan dilupa.
After two years of muted celebrations due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this Raya is going to be extra lively as our neighbours, relatives and good friends welcome us back into their homes.
But in your rush to avoid the traffic jams as you balik kampung, make sure to do the following before leaving home:
- Fires often occur due to short circuit of electrical wiring. Hence, make sure to switch off and unplug all electrical appliances where possible. By doing so, you are not only preventing anything untoward from happening but also saving electricity.
- For those who have cats and dogs living in your compound, make sure to leave them with enough food and water while making sure they have a comfortable and sheltered area to rest. These animals may potentially cause damage to your home when attempting to find a way into your property in search of food and shelter.
- No matter where you’re heading to this Raya, make sure all your doors are securely locked and windows are latched. It is best if you can install a smart lock system with alarm that you can monitor on your mobile phone while away. Never hide keys under flower pots and floor mats or in your shoe cabinet!
- As neighbours, we should look out for each other. Let your neighbours know that you will be away and seek their help to keep an eye on your home while you’re gone. It is also best to inform your nearest police station of your absence simply by going there to fill up a form. The police will patrol your area regularly, giving you peace of mind while you celebrate Raya.
